I ran a metro desk in Milwaukee for six years and moved to Minneapolis when my wife took a job at the university. I edit The Long Entry and I run Minutes, which means I have spent more hours than anyone should listening to other people's families negotiate about laundry. I have a toddler and a teenage stepdaughter — an intern and a senior VP in the same house — and both of them have taught me more about operations than the metro desk did.
